Food Review: Puerto Nuevo Mexican and Seafood Restaurant in Toccoa

Review by Whitney Kleinert

About the Restaurant

Puerto Nuevo is a lively, family-friendly spot in downtown Toccoa known for authentic Mexican cuisine and fresh seafood. The menu is extensive, with something for everyone—including vegetarian and vegan options—plus a salsa bar and a wide selection of drinks and margaritas. Generous portions, friendly service, and a vibrant atmosphere (with Mariachi bands on select nights) make it a popular go-to for both locals and visitors.

What We Ordered & Why We Love It

From the moment we sat down, the staff was attentive, quick, and genuinely welcoming. This is a great place for families, with plenty of space and comfortable, roomy booths.

The menu variety is impressive, especially if you love seafood. We enjoy sharing the Cabo Tacos and the Special Quesadilla—both are flavorful and perfect for splitting. The steak fajitas are our reliable go-to: sizzling, well-seasoned, and consistently delicious. The ceviche is fresh and bright, and a definite must-order if you’re a seafood fan. A nice bonus? Free salsa and bean dip served with your meal.

Steak Fajitas for the win!

Final Thoughts

Puerto Nuevo delivers on all fronts—great food, fast and friendly service, generous portions, and a fun, welcoming atmosphere. Whether you’re craving classic Mexican favorites, fresh seafood, or a relaxed place to gather with family and friends, this spot checks all the boxes. It’s the kind of restaurant you’ll happily return to again and again.
